PKNA Receives Award
The Preservation Alliance board of directors has voted to present a 2018 John Andrew Gallery Community Action Award for achievement by community organizations to the Penn Knox Neighborhood Association for its determined, well-organized and thus far successful campaign to ensure the preservation of the Germantown Boys & Girls Club building and grounds on W. Penn Street in Germantown.
This award has been given annually since 2001 and is named for John Andrew Gallery, executive director of the Preservation Alliance from 2002-12. Mr. Gallery usually attends the ceremony in person to make the award presentation.
and THANK YOU Sue Patterson for co-ordinating the people and meetings that made these relationships move forward.

Did you attend the Boys and Girls Club in the 1960s and 1970’s?
My name is Lauren Cooper, and I am a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania. I am contacting you because of the Penn Knox Neighborhood Association's involvement in the efforts to designate the Germantown Boys Club building as a protected site.
I am in the beginning stages of a project about arts and vocational training programs offered through neighborhood Boys Clubs in the 1960s and 1970s. I am hoping to record oral histories of individuals who were involved with these types of programs, either as students or administrators.
Would the Penn Knox Neighborhood Association be able to put me in contact with anyone who was involved with the Germantown Boys Club during the the 1960s or '70s? If you know of anyone connected to your association who may be willing to share their stories, I would greatly appreciate it.
